I am now carrying 6 different styles of Dana 60 kingpin steering arms. I have everything from regular crossover arms, to front high-steer arms, to double high steer arms. I also make these arms in a "heavy duty" setup, which eliminates the kingpin spring, and replaces it with adjustable shims. Arms be ordered with 5 holes for Dedenbear knuckles as well.
Double arm sets are still on sale if you mention seeing this add. All arms use OEM style studs with tapered nuts, NOT BOLTS. They slip over the top of the existing kingpin caps. The ends are tapered for chevy tierod ends, and Large Chevy double pivot draglink ends. I also carry all kingpin replacement hardware, and can make custom DOM tierods and draglinks that DO NOT have weld on ends. The tubes are drilled and tapped. I also machine flats in them for easy adjustment with a wrench. Double arm sets will fit hummer style rims. Single front arms can also be ordered to fit the hummer rims.

Is there any noticeable difference in steering/handling quality with your Hummer arms? This is a daily driver.
Any idea whether the standard arms will fit Hummer H2 rims? These are 17" rims with approximately 5" to 5.5" backspacing.

Wow, you're in Auburn. Cool, I was born there, live in Grass Valley now. Anyways, I emailed ya some questions about those double arms. Guess I wouldn't have to order them, just drive down there and get'em. Any issues using those double arms on an axle relocated 2" further forward than stock? GM 60, K5 frame. :smokin:

The double arm set will work perfect of the K-5 with the axle moved forward. The only thing you will have to change is your shock mounts. I am sure you already did that anyway. Trevor

If the vehicle is your daily driver and you want to run a 5" backspaced wheel. I would use the double arm set also. By having the tierod on the back of the axle, this allows good ackerman angle when you kick them in. In fact, with the double arms, the steering geometry is exactly the same as stock. It would still work to do high-steer in the front with the arms kicked in, but it may scrub your tires after 10,000 miles or so.

There is no problem with clearance on a high pinion. I have them on my chevy truck. I am running a ford high pinion, and 56" chevy rear leafs. Trevor WFO

I'm looking for a complete setup for a full width chevy kingpin front and jeep power steering box. I am looking at the double setup and pitman arm. I will need the tre's, dle's, jam nuts, and mounting kits to include the studs and tapered nuts. Could I get a price on both the heavy duty and standard duty double kits to 95361? I have a new kingpin rebuild kit and am debating if I want to use the springs.

Most of the pics I've seen with HP60 running the behind the axle TR, they are using tierod ends. If you use heim joints on the TR that lowwers the whole thing. I'm wondering if that would cause a problem.
Trevor

I may lower it a little bit, but it should still clear. I do sell half inch spacers that can go under the arms if it doesn't work. You could also put a small spacer between the heim and the arm. Trevor

What is the length of the arm from the center where the king pin mounts to the center of the Tie Rod mounting hole.
Trevor

Distance is 6.25". It works well with a saginaw box and a superlift 1104 pitman arm or a waggy arm. Trevor, WFO

Your double arm is set up to run the steering behind the axle, I would like to keep the tie-rod and drag link in front of the axle but I might consider trying to mount the hydro-assist behind the axle on the drivers side, do you have a deal that comes with a double drivers side arm and a single cross-over arm on the pass side.
Trevor
01-17-2005, 09:30 AM
I could use the double arm with one of my drivers forward single arms. The draglink would then steer into the tierod, using a chevy tierod end with a hole in it. It would be $245 for the special set, I need to re-ream the draglink hole. You could put the double arm on whatever side you want. Trevor

I will prlly run heims, i dont think this one will be driven on the road at all...will that make a difference.
Trevor
01-18-2005, 07:59 PM
Heims are fine. They must be 3/4 or larger. Just remember, heim joints don't always have as much mis-allignment as a draglink or tie-rod end. Make sure your heims won't bind as the suspension flexes. Trevor, WFO

btt: will be calling this week to order..... how periodic do you need to re shim the HD arms? 1k or 10k miles? (ballpark)
What I need: double arm set (not sure if reg. or hd) and hardware/stud kit(s) depending on that, for a stock Chevy 60.
Thanks

I have the arms in stock. As far as the shimming, I have put around 5000 on my truck and the kingpins are still tight. I am going to re-shim at the begining of the summer. I would say once a year would be good. Trevor

Will your standard (non HD) double arms clear Hummer H1 rims?
Trevor
02-09-2005, 11:42 AM
I have sold around 20 sets of arms to guys who are running hummer H1 wheels. It is a very close fit. Nothing hits the wheel, but if you have a tire that has a lot of sidewall bulge, it could rub the tierod ends. I have had one person who ran in to problems and had me make a special set of arms. He had wierd ford outers. Worse case scenerio, you would have to put some 1/4" aluminum spacers on. Yes, the regular arms will clear the same as the HD arms. Trevor, WFO

Here is a Toyota that we put the double arms on. He had Waggy 4404's and a hydraulic ram. We shortened and built the 6 lug 60 also. The tierod was going to hit the oil pan on full compression, so we put a 2wd oil pan and pickup tube on it. We also shaved a little off the pan and tig welded it. I think with was an 81 though. The 84 and 85's already have a different oil pan. The other option is to put a single bump stop in the middle. It will still let you flex both ways, but keeps it from bottoming when you jump it!

Sounds like a good way to hook up your ram. The only issue, is that the draglink side of a double arm is reamed to fit a double pivot chevy draglink ends. This means that if you are still running rod ends, you will need to put an ES2026R or ES2027L on the drivers side of the tierod. If you are running heims it won't be a problem. They will just have to be 3/4 heims. For a set of HD double arms, I need to get $275. I will send you a pm with the total. thanks, Trevor

One question, what the scoop on the studs? Are they ARP or what? Is there and OEM application that I can get these from? Just curious.

My 1979 Ford F350 Dana 60 had studs and cone washers from the factory on the drivers side. The factory arm is 1" thick so they will work. Give a Ford dealer a call and let us know if they're still available. Otherwise lots of people sell kits for around $30.
Trevor
06-18-2005, 10:22 AM
I carry both styles of studs. I get the factory studs at GM. They are the same ones that Ford and Dodge used. The part # is 462855. They list for $10 a piece. I usually get a better deal because I buy 200 at a time. I sell them for $7.95. I started using the ARP studs when Deadenbear had them made. They are a little longer and they are supposed to be a lot stronger. However, the stock studs have a larger diameter shoulder on them. If I know a customer is going to use stock style studs, I drill out the holes to 17/32. Otherwise, they stay at 1/2" for the ARP studs. I sell the ARP ones for the same price. The nuts are a tapered nut, and hold the arm down much like a lug nut holds a tire. That is exactly how most factory 60 steering arms were held down. Trevor, WFO

Yes, they will clear a high pinion axle. I can do the 5th hole on the passenger side double arm, but the short faces backwards, so it misses the 5th hole location. If you are using Deadenbear knuckles, I suggest using the HD arms. I will send a PM with prices. Trevor WFO

Trevor...
I ordered a set of the HD arms for H1 rims from you early last week and they came last night (about 5 working days later waaay across the country). It seemed like you were pretty busy while on the phone, but you still took your time and asked me some good questions to make sure I was buying something that would work for my application. You double checked your inventory while I was on the phone and got them out that same evening. I hope the get them installed this week, but judging by the beef used to build these, they'll be just fine. Keep up the good work...
Thanks, and I would gladly buy from you again.
