I'm about to help my buddy install a 2-year-old 2" Trailmaster TJ spring lift on his TJ. He's just looking to clear his 31's better and in exchange I get his old springs. I've never worked on a TJ before, so I was wondering what I should expect. He's not going to need new driveshafts, is he? I assume that he'll need longer sway-bar connecting rods?

you'll need longer shocks (the stockers are short to begin with) and a spring compressor (you can borrow these free at autozone) If you unhook the track bar you can get the axle down far enough to get the springs out with one, get somebody to stand on the end of the axle to push it down enough. You don't need new driveshafts and both sway bars can be rotated down and still work. It will probably need some transfer case lingage adjustments. If you need to be talked thru that, PM me so we don
t fill up the PBB with the simple stuff.
BTW. 31's will clear stock, my usual answer to 2" lifts is 'do you want a lift? 2" isn't a lift' but today i'm in a good mood ....:D

if u need a spirng compressor for a 2" lift you have problems. i got mine in without disconnecting the control arms or the trac bar.

For my 3" RE i had the trac bar disconnected to redrill the axle connection and was able to BARELY fit those springs in without a compressor. the control arms were still connected here also.

bottom line u may or may not need the compressor, but if you don't have it or know someone that does then don't waste your money.

I agree on the 2" of lift not being any lift. But this is not my rig. It is a friend of mine's and he's had the lift sitting in his garage for a long time and just has never been able to afford to get it put on. The reason I'm helping him is because I get his old springs, which I was thinking of using to do a coil front setup on my CJ. :)
