What depth of back spacing will still clear the brakes? Not concerned with steering, the stock as cast arm will be cut off, and Hy-steer arms will be fabbed so rim clearance here is not an issue. I'm looking to get to at least 5", and 6" would be better to make the overall width where I want it with out cutting the tube / shaft. For reference sake, what's the back spacing on HUMMER wheels? Not interested in HUMMER rims, but they appear to have some healthy offset. Will the HUMMER wheels bolt on, or are there mods involved when hanging them on a 60?

For clarity, I'm using an '82 Dodge D60, has the single piston calipers.

Sorry for the newbie type question, but I'm stuck in Turkey at the moment and have no access to my stash to go make measurements myself.

Here what I can tell you about clearance on my RC60 with Hummer rims. For reference my RC60 is out of a 79 Ford F250 with the large double piston calipers. WHat I have found is that the steering arm will need some grinding to clear the lip of the rim, and will not allow the factory tierod, not a concern for me since I plan on running mew sterring arms on top of the knuckle behind the axle. The only other thing in the way was the bleeder on the caliper. I think a trim of it will do.

Now Hummer rims have about a 7.5" backspacing. But the rim is flat on the inside. Most rims I have seen are dished in the middle, making the inside diam smaller, which would cause issues with the brakes. I would suggest if you are looking at a larger backspacing to seriously consider hummer rims becuase of their design.

Small world, born and raised in Fond du Lac...

Anyway Thanks, not interested in HUMMER wheels, that's to much back spacing. Leaves the end of the hub to exposed IMO. I was wondering about the "taper" to the wheel shell. 5" is all I really need. Going to bead lock a set of 16.5 X 9.75 steel wheels. Just trying to keep the overall width down as much as possible.

Thanks for the input, any body else???
