Gonna swap my 1 3/4" leafs over for the wider wrangler springs - I got the front jeep hangers but for the rear I am not sure what to do. On the front I want to put tube through the frame - so what size do I need? And for the rear springs any suggestions?

Thanks :)

I went the 2.5 Rancho Wrangler springs all the way around. I used the slickrock hangers on the rear and the MORE SRS on the front. Check out the MORE site. The SRS is explained well.

what size tires? The stock wranglers with longer shackles won't cut it for 35's eh? :(

Oh wait, shit. SHackles! SOrry dude, my wife had a baby this morning. IM so out of it its pathetic. 1.5" .120 tubing is the perfect tubing to fit YJ bushings. I used that and some angle iron to make shackle mounts. Oh and Im runnin 8 leaf YJ packs (2 added to a 6 leaf pack) and stock height shackles and runnin 36's on a pre-amc CJ5. You should be good... if you're willing to cut some sheetmetal

Projects progress slowly with the new addition to the family, anyway - couple pics from today. Still haven't decided what to do with the shackle, wether to somehow open up the hole in the frame for a new tube or go under it or ?? How the heck would you suggest I "open the hole up" ??

Personally, I'd scribe the hole out then cut it with a plasma. Easier than most any other method I could think of, assuming I wanted to go in the frame. However, I went under the frame.

Brandon.
From the looks of your pics the front hanger is to far back. And if your going to use a longer spring, that will also put the tire back in the fender well, It will hit the back side of the fender Bad. What year is the jeep, looks early. You should put the shackle hanger into the frame, hole saw it. Also why the toyota axle?.
Can you give me a side shot of the front of the frame. I might be wrong, but just trying to save you time, and help you do it right.
:D

I haven't put the hangers on yet - those are the STOCK ones :D (yea my jeep has a reversal STOCK he he) It is a 1953 M38A1 so yea, kinda early he he

Yea the new ones will be forward, gotta figure out how much but I will build length into the bumper and when I bolt the bumper on this time I will weld it and the hanger might over lap a tad to tie it together or I will plate over the connection

Toyota cause it was the cheapest way to lose the front 30 drums I had and to gain a bit of extra width as well as change to 6 lug to match my truck that has a 44/60 6 lug (funny how I swapped in dana stuff to the truck and swapped out dana for toy stuff in the jeep). Anyway, 10 years of wheeling in the toy stuff and only one broken birfield and one set of gears so I am sure it will hold up great, opens me up to all the cheap toyota stuff out there. Your gonna love this even more, next on the list is a SM420 to toy tcase adapter so I can run a centered rear toy diff and take advantage of the 4.7:1 gears which is a lot cheaper way to go than an atlas or something. Only downfall is the 18 has a nice rear drop output for driveline angles.

Plus I get a kick out of the you should drive a jeep/you should drive a toyota thing :flipoff2:

thanks! outboard eh? Hmm not sure on that yet, just picked up some tubing today - didn't have the 2" .250 dom so I got some sch80 now just gotta find the bushings. I don't get much free time to go to the shops, any recomendation on where I can just order what I need (bushings) ?

For the rear I was really considering outboard, front will be just whatever that toy axle is, which won't be outboard much, maybe an inch off of each side

Thanks.. I cant take credit for the design.. Mike helped me out on this one

I went out board on the fornt and standard on the rear..

You can order the bushings and spring perches from

www.4wdh.comhttps://www.4wd.com/shop4wd/ProductList.asp?FamId=CAPFMABMRE5FRFB599X64BKMUY0V XFV1&PFamId=UnderBody

I would look at the warrior product hangers tho, the slick rocks are damn expensive.

Well, Brandon
I can see you dont need help. As I get to know people on this list I'll be able to tell who knows what there doing and who doesnt. Just dident want to see you do it wrong. I also had a 53 M38A1, had it for 11 years. by the time I sold it , it was not stock no more. LOL. Loved that jeep.

No problem, I appreciate the help - all I can get! I figure if I make the hole in same spot it will move the axle forward about 3" or so, of course I'll have to extend the front another 4" or so, haven't figured it all out but I don't get much free time to work on it :(
