This topic has been cover a meeelion times. Do a search, you will find all of the information that you need including a website that is updated frequently with outputs from the dam. With that information you will also find at what outputs are passable or not.

Depends the level of water flucuates* with the dam. It could be 7 feet or 12inches you need to search. its not a month its just for sierra trek that they turn it off completly.

They never turn it off completely, they turn it down to 25cfs for Sierra Trek. ;)

Off the top of my head I think that website for the water flow was www.dreamflows.com.

Come to the Four Dice Four Wheel Drive Club Fordyce Trail Clean up on Oct. 9th with free raffle and lot's of work and fun. Not much water by then. Cisco Grove exit, Friday night camping(resonable fee) and Saturday work. Lot's of rigs to pull your ass through the hard stuff. Last year we had over 100 people turn out in a snowstorm. Come see the new boulders in Winch Hill 1 that caused Sierra Trek to bypass. (We did it at 4 in the morning on the way to our station at Winch Hill 3.) Help keep this Awesom trail open!!

Here's a pic of my EB going through the #4 crossing on the Fordyce Lake bypass. Dreamflows showed it being 120 cfs last weekend. Covered my 38.5's in one hole;)

Isn't that kind of where the hole is?

Yep. I was told it was one of the deeper spots to cross out of all the crossings. Some of the guys crossed a little further down stream and it wasn't nearly as deep or as much fun ;)

120? depends on how tall, what size tires you have...

I was going to go up on Monday but im having major Carb prob's so i'll probably be up there or the con the following weekend on Saturday.

If any of can HELP clean Fordyce! We need to keep this awesome trail OPEN!

35's why is 120 on the border of being safe?

personally speaking i think you can make it across at 120 but pick your line carefully, you'll probably get water up to the cab so it'll be up there a few feet. Checked dreamflows and its going to be at 120 until the 12th of September.

went up there this weekend. crossings were very passable with 40's :D

Other than my buddies rig ripping off a radius arm cap the trip was pretty easy.

just as a FYI there is no stoves, camp fires, propane laterns or smoking in the woods. If you smoke you have to do it in your rig. We were told this by a range when we got to the trail head.

yep, its thrashed, and currently doing duty as a trail sign holder up at the top of that hill. There is a new bypass at the top, just before you start down to the water. It goes off to the left, instead of down through the trees (clear as mud?). Someone got the jeep up there, and then either used it as an RTI ramp or did a poor job of keeping the rubber down as it got towed up the hill.

Speaking of smoking on the trail, there was lots of people smoking and walking around this weekend. Not the greatest idea, especially with the current weather. Please be careful out there.

There was a CHP helicopter doing flyovers at V rock saturday evening because I think someone had a campfire going. Stupid people

Anyone plan on getting that Jeep out of there?

i probably shouldnt ask this... but does it still have tires? (im guessing no since it had BRAND NEW bfg muds)

i pulled my hydrolocked toy out of the same spot with alot of winching. If someone plan's on getting that pos out i'll lend a helping hand.

i know this was talked about awhile ago in 4x4 discussion, but why again did some idiot leave their tj there for so long that its now all ripped off?

Sunday it was hauled out by 3 guys contracted(?) from the forest service. The only thjing left on it was the cage and motor. On the Fourth of July it had everything except one tire and axle on driver side was missing. People should just other peoples s*#t alone :mad3:

As far making all the crossings, I did every deep hole there was over the weekend in 35's and made it out find. Water got as high as the rim on the top. My 7 year old drove the first crossing with the little skinny on and crawled right out.

The copter was out looking for us, there was a guy watching a roll-over that fell and broke his knee. We called 911 and asked for the medi-flight. Granted I did hear that they were running their sirends down around the camps. We got on the phone with the dispatchers and guided them into where the accident was.

They were doing fly overs because someone got hurt on winch hill 4. The guy jumped off of a rock and blew out his knee. He wanted to be flown out  . They long lined a paramedic in to us and we hauled him up to 4.

did you happen to catch which helicopter it was? Was it H30 with a shorter flight medic? Doubtful, since its a bit out of their area, but possible.

Not very familiar with what chopper it was. it said CHP on the side. The Pilot and flight nurse are very familiar with the area.......I've had the flight nurse on my snowmobile during the winter. The Paramedic was out of Donner Summit Fire.

is cisco grove the only place to park your s..t, i thought the trail came out the next exit up 80 after cisco, I've never made it all the way through...ALWAYS gotta pull my friends crap out when they trash their rigs-breaking both drivelines, axles, roll overs(2-4 times per weekend),fuel pumps, steering boxes, spring hangers,etc....got a welder now to help the odds, but DAMN I want to go all the way through!, where does the trail actually come out, my 4-runner is green stickered with beadlocks so can't really drive on 80 down to cisco grove unless i can park my dually close to where the trail comes out.Any help/suggestions would be appreciated for paking.

It's a long dirt road to a long drive back on the road from Meadow Lake. You could run the trail to Meadow Lake and then go back down to the Committee road(a short drive back down the trail after Winch Hill 3 and across the river.) From there it's a what, something like 7-10 mile drive up a short section of trail and out a dirt road into Cisco Grove. Be careful, it's two way and some people cook up the road. Be sure to check the "Fordyce Closed?" thread in this section. Trail may be closed now or in the near future until some rain?

If you go in at Cicso Grove you'll come out past Eagle Lakes running the trail backwards. If you take Eagle Lake exit off 80 and go left at the stop sign you'll come to the Tahoe National Forest sign to the right, you turn right there and thats the trail head where the bathrooms are in the big open area. Also you can park your tow rig near the bathrooms. No one usually messes with stuff that's parked there. My rig was up there for 2 weeks.. didnt have any probs.
