Have 2.9 Efi Motor From 88 .ithink Its Bolt In The Question Is About The Wire Harness.i Have Pulled The Computer And All Sensors Easy But The 6-7 Plugs On The Right Side Fron The Fuse Box That Go To Efi Harness.do I Need To Cut All Connectors And Wire Them Back To The 84 Or Will They Plug Into The 84 Harness. Do I Need To Pull The Fuse Box What A Mess .never Swaped Efi Motor.what Is The Best Way.i Would Love To Do A 5.0 But Can't Afford It.has Anyone Did This.help Please The Old 84 Carb Is Auto The 88 Efi Is 5-speed.thanks

Those guys have a lot of expertise on the Ranger, and though many of them are also here on Pirate, they will respond much quicker there.

get the manuals for both trucks, they should be the same manual. then look at the wiring diagrams. you will need to identify all the wires the come from the cab and come from the harness. if they happen to be the same then yes you can plug them up and go. if not you will have to rewire the plugs. I had to do this to do the 4.0L swap and it was a paine because I pulled my 4.0L from an areostar, mess. good luck on your swap.
