: Clutch master cylinder
HarleyM 01-27-2002, 05:09 PM The Clutch master cyl finally went totally out. I have searched for a new or rebuilt unit, but no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement ? I would like to keep it american but will change the whole thing over to metric if I have to.
Also looking for an interchange for the window regulator, drivers side about gone.
jdjanda 01-27-2002, 05:59 PM Have you tried Napa? Jim at Anything Scout told me the MC's are used today in new applications and should still be available. Try to get the counter guy off his arse and search for a replacement.

That Mick 01-27-2002, 06:47 PM Harley- you have 2, maybe 3 options.
1. go to Napa and plunk 17.95 for their M/C rebuild kit. P/N 30610-B8001, IIRC
2. (what I did). go to the local Wagner brake parts dealer and pick up a clutch MC from a 85-?87? Dodge D-series pickup. this also matches an Izuzu MC. This MC has a plastic resivour, snap on cap, and the outlet on the fender side. Bore and Stroke match the girling cylinder. you'll also need the Metric thread pressure line, and a short chunk of threaded rod to extend the rod. All told, about $30
3. Look around and find a new Girling cylinder. Roundy round racers use them a bunch, but its $50-$60
HarleyM 01-27-2002, 07:58 PM Thanks for the info. The last owner used apiece of 3/8 ready rod for the plunger andscarred the cylinder beyond using a kit. I will try the D- series and just after I posted this I got a call from an old friend and he said to try the 70-72 couriers.
Any suggestions on the window regulater?
Scout Dude 01-27-2002, 08:51 PM I dunno if Scout II's are similar...or even if you have a Scout II. But I used a Jeep one and it fit great. I don't remember if I hd to drill the holes out or not but you can make it work great.
Chief yelling alot 01-27-2002, 10:13 PM I know chev vans with the 3 on the tree and 4 on the tree have a use a clutch masterc ylender
just a thought
diamonddave 01-28-2002, 05:29 PM Don't waste your time trying to use a Scout II clutch master, becasue such a thing does not exist. International's experiment with hydro clutches only laster about 4 years, and for good reason. I think that the dodge MC will work good if you want to stay hydro, however if it was me, I'd probably track down/ make the parts to go to the later 800 style mechanical clutch setup. A little more work and expense now, but I think that it would save a whole lot of frustration later.

from 60 to 68 International used hydro clutches in ther pickups/travelalls
mine is hydro and I love it never had a prob yet
I also have seen a hydro an a 75 IH but I think that was a back yeard mod
HarleyM 01-28-2002, 07:13 PM If I can get the parts people around here to get past the part numbers and start looking for a replacement I will get somewhere with this seems all they want to do is tell me they can't get the part and go to the back and hide. (should take my cattle prod in next trip)
I have never had a problem with a hdro cluth that was installed correctly my old dodge has over 260,000 miles on it and no trouble at all. My wifes pickup came with a 2 inch body lift and a mechanical clutch I had to redo the brackets to get it to work right and still don't like it I am going to put a hydro in it to clean up the underside and there will be no more problems or breakage.

My '74 has a hdyraulic clutch, but it IS a backyard modification. It also has a T98 4spd that shouldn't have been in it.
In my case, an old single-circuit brake m/c was used. Probably from an early 60s Dodge car or something. Huge 1.25" bore makes for a pretty heavy pedal..
I've actually contemplated hooking up another brake booster to it so I could have a boosted clutch. :D
HarleyM 02-01-2002, 11:31 AM Fixed the clutch used the courier mc since I already had one Same bore and stroke just needed to reposition the bolts on the fire wall. Should work until I get a different motor and tranny setup. While it was in the shop redid the brakes and mounted a dual mc and new lines. Mc and proportioning valve came from a chevy impala
Dead Sled 02-01-2002, 06:59 PM My Hydro clutch M/C in the '75 200 looks like its from a Skid loader. It bolts through the sides on a home made bracket that was booger welded with angle iron and plate. The slave is an IH unit that I just replaced. It too is on a booger welded bracket bolted to the T-19 wide. It has a very stiff pedal
Hmm power clutch sounds interesting.

what tranny should of been in it
hmm powr clutch let us know how it works

My guess it wat a TF727 because it has an automatic steering column and and all the homemade bracketry, also the torched hole through the tranny tunnel . but the T-19 wide is setup up properly with the divorced mounted 'case
