Well I got a good close look at the chassis with the axles underneath it and the front housing has 60 stamped into it. But it has flat top knuckles like on a 44 on both sides. But the hubs and lockouts are huge. It is a 1973 3/4 ton camper special. I'm glad I didn't order my arms before i looked at the housing closer. So can I use 44 flat top arms? What exactly do I have.

Well, without seeing it, I'd say someone eather swapped in a D44, or swapped in a later model ball-joint 60.
OS, tasty new avater :D :D

Sounds like a 44. Are the hubs external bolt on? Standard 70's 3/4 ton Dana 44 stuff. 60's came in 1 tons, not 3/4 tons (typically).

I'm sure its a 60. THe 3/4 ton next to it has a 44 and it is much smaller and like I said on the front of pumkin on the right hand side above the axle tube is stamped 60. The hubs are factory with yellow lockouts and they are twice the size of the 44's next to it. It has the same steering setup as the 44 next to it though. Three bolts holding on the steering arm. The passenger side is a flattop also. I'm reading the 60 article now that OS so kindly shared and I'm seeing if I can see a pic of something similar. I'm stumped? By the way O.S. you must work out. LOL

Sounds like all chevy's are kingpin style. I'm gonna drive back out there and snap a couple of pics. There is still time to call off this deal if it isn't a 60. I read 60 right on the front of the housing though. Sorry to sound like a newb ass but I did all my research for a 44 but this 60? just kinda fell in my lap.

Is it a GM or Chevy CS?
Chevy didn't intro the 60 front until ~'77
Dodge started in ~'75..
My 60 is from a '75 D600.

yea its a chevy camper special. I have a standard 3/4 ton sitting next to it a 1977 and it has two leaves in the front and the camper special has three and a bigger axle. The truck is supposedly a 1973 but i'm gonna get the vin and check that out as well.

It is open knuckle and disc. Upon further review it is a 44. Crazy hubs. They are giant way bigger than my scouts or any I've ever seen. I scaped more crap off the housing and the 60 turned out to be a 50. It is marked 44-50 on the front bottom right of the pumkin. I've got some pics if someone wants to post. I learned so much from this board I need to pony up my 20 this week while I've got the money. Anyway the deal is off. I gave 100 bucks for the 44 and 14 bolt out of the 77 simply because they are in good shape and have 4.56 gears. I'll add a 60 to the mix when I can find a real one. O.S. , Rusto, Ben, TSM1Mt, thanks for all the help. I guess I am a newb ass. Someone host a pic and check out these hubs.

Sounds like those are the earlier style external hubs. I have seen them on closed knuckle Chev 44's, but not on disc braked units
