just thought I should let you guys know about the new mini spool from Richmond gear. Jegs is selling them for $96.99 plus $14.99 for hardened cross pin. cheap way to lock it without ruining the carrier. By the way what gear ratio do you think for 37" tires for all around drivabilty?:usa:

Randy's Ring and Pinion sells a D44 mini spool for $86. Do a search, I had a thread on D44 mini spools a week or so ago.

Next time I'll use a search, about the price, that dont seem steep to me, compared to replacing the center section when you want to go back to one wheel peel, this gives you the option. In South Dakota this is a good option. Just trying to help someone out there!!!!!!:flipoff2:

The real kicker is that a 9" mini spool is less than $30. Just pisses me off.

It does suck, fortunatley i have a 9 inch in a pro street S-10 that I am building that has a mini spool in it. I was gooing to mini spool my rear end and lock right the front on my 77' cherokee, but still undecided.

Had a Reider Racing minispool in a D44 rear. On 35's, with 4.56 in an XJ. It broke 6 mos later...

Where did the spool break? Or did the cross pin break? I had a stock cross pin break in a ford 9inch while drag racing a 3500lb car with 600hp. We tore it all apart that night and put in a hardened one and its still working. mine is a Ricmond name brand and in drag racing they are #1, I dont know anything about Reider racing but mabey theres a difference?

Yeah, that's because the mini for the 9" is one piece whereas the mini for the D44 is 4 pieces. More to machine equals higher costs.

BTW, thanks for reminding me, I gotta get my mini back from Charly.

And no, you can't have it...
