I just got my Garmin GPS and am looking for GPS map files with way points etc. These should be files of places you actually have been. I have the Wells Moab files but most of them are very incorrect and can be off by a bunch, which could be bad at night.
Areas of interest,,,,,
The West, places like.... Rubicon,Fordyce,Moab,Hammers etc. etc. etc.
If you send me a file I'll post it on my website and give you credit for the data file donation.
TIA

The Wells Moab ones were correct for me with my GPS...although I did only run a few of the trails...Pritchet, Fins and Things, Behind the Rocks, and Hells Revenge and they were all correct...Just my $.02:D

You know, GPS way point info would make an excellent addition to this site. Just some place that members could submit their info to make it available to anyone. Better yet, add a rating/response capability so that any inaccuracy could be addressed.

im no navigation expert, but make sure your gps is set on the correct setting for your area. i use NAD83, and it seems to be almost dead on with most published waypoints.

I have several street atlas log files of Moab, Co, OK etc.
It would be cool to be able to share these with others and you could check and compare ahead of time the quality.

this is a good site that has maps as well as route files. http://www.webejeepin.com/Trails.htm -go towards the bottom and click on colorado, new mexico, or utah/moab and then you can download them.

The Chuck Wells' GPS data in his Utah book was taken back when the Dept of Defense still had Selective Availability enabled, which intentionally introduced some error to continuously skew everything. I remember running Steel Bender a week after the DoD turned off SA (2 years ago?) and I was unimpressed that some of Wells' waypoints were about 1/8 mile off. But overall, the Wells data is pretty good.
I'd love a waypoint list of the 3-D trail if anyone has it. It's hard to find anything on it other than an Easter Jeep Safari description.
