: Re-drilling a rear 44

How difficult/possible is it to re-drill a rear d44 (from a waggy) to 5 on 4.5 patter to match my front 30?

I plan on swapping to 44's front and rear eventually, but I can get a rear one right now really cheap, and I figured that once I have enough cash to buy/re-gear a front 44 and could just get a set of junkyard shafts for the rear to go back to the original pattern.

I dont think you can not enough space(bolt pattern to small) on the axle, I know if you search you will find the info. Im sure I have read it here before.

It's definitly doable. I've seen a 44 axle shaft w/ both bolt patterns.

I've considered an 8.8, but as I said, I plan on going to a front 44 as well when cash allows it. I know that the XJ 44's are 5 on 4.5, but they're a rarity. Anyone know if there are any major differences between the xj 44 rear and the waggy one?

I have done a few searches, but didn't find anything usefull, mostly just topics about re-drilling to 5 on 5.5.

Don't bother.......

Don't waste any money on trying to retrofit the rear Waggy 44. Get it rebuilt and cleaned up and regeared the way you want it and PARK it in the garage until you have the money for the waggy 44. Get 6 on 5.5" all around.

Or just buy the two wheels for it, then the other two when you get a new frontend...

I agree, clean up the 44 and wait for the front 44 and go 6 on 5.5" Besides, why not get the front 44 that goes with the back one?
