I have an np 205 from an sm465 and a TH350
the one on the Th 350 was rebuilt and I am doing a manual swap so I want to use the rebuilt 205 that was behind the th350 for the SM 465
what do I have to do to get this done
I have the complete 205 that was behind the 465

auto 205 have a different bolt pattern on their face and a differnt spline count/inputshaft.
465s are typaicly ten spline male/male with a spud shaft in the middle.
with a figure eight bolt pattern
autos are 28male to 28female
with a six bolt circle pattern

i dont think so. ive heard the input bearings are different. if the bearing od's are the same it should be do able . i can get you a auto 205 that is good.

The bolt patterns are the same unless the manual trans 205 is newer than 1985. All you need to do is swap the input shafts - otherwise the cases are identical.

Try again!
the newer TH400 are the only autos with the circle six pattern, (as well as the newer SM465's). All pre 85 trannies had the figure 8 NP205. And the TH400 all had 32 spline male output, the NP205 for them had female 32 spline input.
All TH350's had 27 spline male output, and the NP205 for them had a 27 spline male input, with a coupler sleeve mating the two.
Yes, as already stated, just swap your inputs and be done.

3rd
onthe input swap
(AS LONG AS IT IS A 10 SPLINE and 27 spline the case bore and bearing diameter are the same )
AS 32 SPLINE 1985 AND NEWER IS 32 SPLINE AND THEREFORE THE LARGER CASE BORE DIAMETER - BEARING DIAMETER
but 205's hardly ever go bad so unless ya know its messed up i recomend dont take it all apart just to switch input shafts

With the final info in---swap the gears, takes about 20-30 minutes with a beer in between.
