Too weak. I actually know a guy who ran one for awhile till it spit out parts, literally, and through the cast pig.
I mean it. It spit out a part through the cast section, it looked like a bullet hole.

Reverse cut in the rear means you would be going forward on the coast side of the gear which is the weaker side.

Insayn... i think you can put standard cut gears in a rc axle if you are going to run it in the rear... FWIW i saw a HP60 rear last week the owner said it had been under his TJ for 2 years without problem

Wrong. Standard in standard, RC in RC

Set the 60 guts, next to the 44 guts. You will see why he hasn't had the same problems as the 44.

For a high pinion rear others take a high pinion center section and add the tubes, axles etc. from a rear axle to it. That is how they get a high pinion rear.

I read that an RC 44 (or any RC gearset in a rear end application) is approximately 20% weaker than a standard cut gearset in the same application. This means an RC 44 center section is probably a little stronger than a D35, but not much. In the real world it means that your gears are gonna take a shit before your shafts. Not a good thing...

I also read that the gears in a rear high-pinion 60--even though they're rididing on the "weaker side" of the the gear teeth most of the time-- are still a good 30 percent stronger than the gears in a standard cut 44...

FWIW,
Jake
