Heres the story so you can kind of get an idea of what happened.

I was leaving my parking garage and when I pushed the clutch in to shift into 3rd when I heard a snap and the clutch pedal went to the floor like the linkage broke and then the engine died. I got it started again but when I pushed the clutch in it was a lot harder to press and then when I went to let up on the clutch its like the pedal didn't want to come up. It slowly came up for an inch or so before it just popped up.
I think it might be the slave cylinder or the linkage into the slave cylinder. Its hard to explain but its kind of ghetto the way they did it. Instead of the linkage going straight into the slave cylinder, it goes in at a angle from both directions. Angled in from the top and from the side(not a big angle....but obvious). It always shifted bad after driving it for a while like the clutch wasn't engaging all the way (started after v8 swap). I think that angle might have screwed it up. :shaking: :(

What do you guys think? Right now its stuck in a parking garage so I can't pull anything apart. Hopefully I'll get it to another guys house in a day or two that knows more about this than me.
Thanks alot

Joseph

I'de first check the master and slave. Un bolt the slave and see if it works. Dont let it over extend. If the slave goes at an angle it could have bent the linkage but doutful that it bent the internals of the slave. If it is just the linkage you should be able to see it by just crawling under.

If it is none of that it might be the clutch fork (which i would check next) or the pressure plate.

I also think maybe a part of the linkage broke. I'll be moving it tomorrow or friday to work on it at someones house.
If anyone else has any ideas post them up. Trying to get a list of things together to look for when I get under there.
Thanks

I've never heard a slave cylinder snap, but I imagine that if it did, it prolly wouldn't perform ANY function anymore. I did have a customer come in last year that had a clutch fork split in half like the wishbone on a turkey! I imagine that that made a snapping sound when it went. Pull the inspection cover [if yours is one of the few v-8s that has one on it] and look at how well the fork is anchored to the pivot ball inside the bellhousing.
