You better duck :D Seriously, do a quick search, there's a ton of info as quite a few of us have done the conversion recently. You can check out my website, did a writeup under the tech section.

I am manly looking to see what gear, tire, & trans combo every one is doing. I.E. I plan on doing 36's , 5:71 gears, & a 4 to 1 in my stock sammy t-case.
Thanks for the info it looks like it could come in handy.

Nice Save :D

5.29's, GRS II (4.89) + 36's wasn't low enough for me.:grinpimp:
Nice street characteristics, tho.

Underneath a Toyota, the 5.71 gears have proven too brittle for real offroad use. They work fine under a show truck on 44s, but the pinion is just too small.

Some guys run it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Under a lighter samurai, however, it's may be a different story.

Is that why I think I heard the word KLUNE mentioned somewhere in the vicinity of your name in another thread?

:D

5.29's, 4.89 t-case and 33x15.50's feels really good for 95% of the obstacles I have tried.

Lets see..

4 speed auto, 2 toy t-cases, and 4.11s with 33s to start off with. Once it's up and running, I might adjust to 35's and a R&P change.

5.29's and a 4/1 work well for me. The 5.71's might work on a Sammy, Yota's right about the tiny pinion for a Toy.

I havent gotten the chance to get it on the trail yet, but for what its worth I have 5.29's in my toy axles, 4.89 in the t-case and it's looking like 37" boggers. Wish I would have waited a week to get those new summo gears, would sure be nice!

1.6L, 4.89 + 5.29 w/ 38's... although "running" probably isn't the right word for mine.... driven it but havn't wheeled it. too high. not sure exactly which route im going on the tcase situation.

Yep, I am running the small block 1.3l, stock carb. I do have one of Dave Low end cams, I can feel a little more lug down low.
