Well you guys should already have heard but if not Jeep announced it will be selling in 2005 the Unlimited Rubicon model. You can get the 6speed with all the usual rubi additions. Sounds like perfection almost if you don't mind denting up a $$27,000+ vehicle!! :shaking:

There is a pic and article here ---> http://ftp.jeepin.com/news/05wrangler/unlimited_rubicon.asp

There were 2 of them on the Rubicon trail the week after the Donner CalRocs
event. DC engineers were driving them. Seems like a real shame to me to
design a brand new 6sp manual tranny and only use a 4.46:1 1st gear. :shaking:

I 'll add some tech... You can get it in orange. Bright fargin cal trans orange.

Dealers should start takin orders next month, still no price. Thinkin about gettin me a not hard core bolt on wannabe wheeler to cruise the back country and malls in. Tired of my junk not having a wind shield, fenders, top, air cond, heater, doors, radio, Lic plate, smog equipt.and all the little things the wife and CHP like an automobile to have.

According to the 05 brocure I have in my hand here, the unlimited doesn't come in khaki, lime green, fleame red, orange, or white. That says for the premium h-package, so the rubicon version may be different. It has the option track for the unlimited rubicon, including the standard 6 speed tranny. Something random, you cannot get a 4 banger with a hard top, or a RHD with a soft top. That is all.

I dont think the rub/unlimiteds are out yet just the unlimiteds.

probably anytime, but if its like the release of the regular rubi's wher, you could order one, and get it 6 months after they start stocking the dealerships.

I liked this part:"The standard wheelbase Wrangler Rubicon continues as the ultimate off-road Wrangler."

That's why all you guys stretch your wheelbases right?

Believe the 6speed is the new "standard" standard tranny - mostly designed to meet new EPA restrictions (that's why the overdrive is slightly higher)

Yup, the 6sp replaces the 5sp NV3550 manual. DC still fawked up though,
cause as I already stated 1st gear is only 4.46:1. Damn stupid IMO.

Guessing these will run about $30K, the woman wants an unlimited in the next year or two. Dont know if I'd get her a rubicon, but maybe since it already has the 4.10's so wont have to regear for the 33's it will need just to look right for her. It'll be strange to have a mall crawler that doesnt get wheeled instead of a heep that gets beaten on. Maybe I can talk her into waiting another couple years and getting a lease turn in or something used to save some cash.

I ordered my Unlimited Rubicon yesterday from Don-a-vee Jeep. It has a December build date and January delivery date. I got the automatic with the hard top and every option for $28,100, not including tax & license. I'm a longtime ZJ owner of 10+ yrs which I'm keeping for hardcore wheeling. This will be my first Wrangler. The new Wrangler will not see the hardcore stuff until the ZJ conks (it has 225,000 miles on the original motor and tranny), I get some dents or scratches on it, or until I can't "abstain" any longer. :smokin:

Aww man! I looK forward to the day when a six speed has granny low 1st gear and the rest (2nd thru 6th) are like regular 5-speeds. NV4500s are nice, but they are too wide between 2nd through 5th.

I saw some in Moab when I was out there about 2 months ago. They had them at those "Rent a Jeep for a day" places.

I want one for all the same reasons Jeff Knoll stated. Me gal and I have been planning on getting something like that next year. So this is just what we wanted, something that has about the room of an ford explorer without being one.
I am glad they came out with this for sure so good job Jeep.
A 4.46 1st aint that bad when hooked to a 4-1 tcase. That will give you a crawl of 66.5 with 3.73's.

Rubi's come with 4.10:1 in the diffs.
