Suzuki Swifts have/had a 1.3L DOHC motor in them for a while.. yes? I've heard the bolt patern for the tranny is the same.. why hasn't anyone ever swapped one of these things in their Sami? It's gotta be fuel injected.. seems like a great idea to me, what am I missing?

"torque" from what i hear- but it's hard to imagine anything with less oomph than a Sammy:D
i guess all things being equal, Swift's "torque" lives higher up in the rev band than Samurai/'Kick engines etc. so makes for even more difficult low speed crawling.
*search* should turn up all kinds of details on this, i would hazard.

Did more digging around and it looks like the Swift bottom ends are what most people really want. They must have good cranks and rods or something.. anyone know how much trouble it is to plop a Sami head on a Swift bottom end?

I believe the Swift GT's had steel cranks in them, and better rods (for the rpm's I'd guess) Yes, 1.3L Samurai head will bolt on.
I had one once.

well partly swift.........:flipoff2:
I ran the 1.3 twin cam swift in my old sammy... I love the high revs and the fuel injection.. they work awesome in the mud.. I building a rock crawler/mud machine so I now have a 1.6 block with 1.3 twin cam head on it... it should have both low end from the 1.6 and the super high revs of the 1.3..... I can't wait to start it up.

I have a Swift GTi crank, rods, pistons, oil pump, and block in my Samurai. The tranny bolts right up to it. Same thing with the Samurai head. I have a Go-Fast Samurai head from Asian Auto Parts with their torque cam, 1600 exhaust valves, and decked 0.020 inch. So I get the best of both worlds, torque and horsepower. I have barely less torque than my buddy Adam's 8-valve 1600 Samurai with the Isky torque cam, but I have double the RPM range and more horsepower, so I leave him in my dust out on the road despite my bigger tires. I'm really happy with this engine setup. My only gripe is that I wish I had EFI (I have a Weber on it right now) but I'll be fixing that shortcoming soon enough...

What did it cost you to set your motor up? Was it worth the work to build a 1.3 over a 1.6? Its getting close for me, I'm thinking about getting into the engine soon.:)

There have been a few swift gti conversions done in Australia. Maybe you could ask a few questions here :
