Getting Self test code 33 (EGR valve opening not detected) after install of new headers on my EFI 351W. Total loss of power now and runs rougher than hell when I put it in gear. Idles good though. Checked wires for firing order and they are all right. I applied vacuum to the egr while at idle and idle did get rough telling me its worken...I also blocked both the egr vacuum port and the vaccum line and it still runs rough when in gear. Any ideas?

Make sure the plugs are on the right cylinder and the cap/rotor are not horribly worn out, replace if necessary.

out of curiosity, have you checked all of the connections that might have been disturbed during the install? Try measuring resistance on the egr sensor, and make sure it changes its resistance as the valve opens/closes. Mebbe its a bad sensor or sumpin. Have you checked for any new vacuum leaks? Did you reset the computer so it would have to re-learn its adaptive parameters (or whatever they call 'em) Did you make any other changes while you were foolin around under the hood??

are you sure you didnt crack any plugs? might have a dead plug. sounds like the position sensor is not working/bad conection or the source vac for the evr is diconnected somewhere along the line, that pretty much only needs to work at cruise. do a drop test with the iac disconnected and see if you can find a dead cylinder...may be vac leaks or bad wire...clogged stuck injectors..

yep just checked all wires and plugs for like the nTH time and they are all good. Found a few vacuum lines that didnt look too bad but not perfect either so those are gonna get swapped tonight. I did find a big ass leak in the EGR tube about half way up. Im gonna assume this cant be helping me?
