Did a search coulcn't find what I needed.

The steering box on my '98 TJ is leaking BAD from every spot that it can. I need to replace it NOW. Besides another TJ what other heavier options would bolt up. I'm running 35" tires and Waggy 44's So a heavier box would be great.
Would a Waggy Steering box work?

Thanks!!!

Did you try the SEARCh function?

I used a 90 XJ steering box on my TJ. From what I gathered, XJ, YJ and waggy have the same box.

BTW my XJ box turns MUCH easier than the TJ one.

For a bigger bore box, you could use a durango box (donno which years).

whatever you do dont bother contacting AGR, highly recommend Tom at PSC http://www.pscpowersteer.com/ if youre simply interested in reconditioning your existing box or wish to upgrade to hydro assist. You should already have a steering box cross support, if you dont get one soon!! My experiences with the TJ's is you will need a hydro assist ram once you go to 35" tires. They hydro assist ram will alleviate some of the stress on your track bar during steeing and make it easier to wheel. Just do alot of research before mounting it up as there are about 10 wrong ways to install.

or just send your current box to west texas off road and have them rebuild and tap so that you could run a hydro assist. May kill two birds with one stone. Just my .02

Jeep J20 4x4 trucks, can't remember the exact years, but I think late seventies. Call Matt Hodges at West Texas Off Road. He is on PBB as TheLakeRat.
The J20 was the only vehicle that ran this particular steering gear box. It has a larger piston bore than any other gear box. It is the same box that AGR modeled their gear boxes off of.
Found mine at a PnP for only $30. Flushed it out real good and bolted it right up. :grinpimp:

Yup, variable 13/17-1 ratio, 3.375" piston and a 3/4"x 30 spline intermediate. The variable is kind of awkward to get used to at first.
West Texas will set you up great and if you like second opinions try Lee Power

Ok, Thanks for the info. does anyone know the years of the J20 Trucks specifically? or would any late 70's be fine?

If you bleed out all the power steering fluid and order new fluid from a company called the fluid shakra service that will stop any leaking from the system. It's kinda like cyrogenic processes for steel. They align the shakra's in the oils by using a shakra alignment process that they patented. Check out their website HERE (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/login.php?do=logout&u=20339)

Search J20 in the Jeep talk forum, The Lake Rat had a full explaination on them. IIRC, it was late 70s 3/4 ton Jeep.
