: Avalanche Engineering (Tons of Money & Terrible Service) - RESOLVED
Matt K 01-28-2002, 03:11 PM Has anybody had the pleasure of dealing with Avalanche Engineering? I know, I have heard it a million times on this board, anything stamped Avalanche is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ok, so it is, but with that I expected a great product and excellect service. Well the product is great, but the service is terrible.
I have only dealt with Avalanche twice. (this will probably be my last) The first experience was a joke. I was told over 10 times over a period of 3 weeks that my product is almost done. We only need to drill two more holes and it will ship tomorow That steel must be pretty damn strong if it takes 3 weeks to drill two holes. Now I must admit they did knock off the shipping charges. Which I do appreciate, but for the 3 weeks I was BS'd too I was getting pissed. Why not just say We are really busy and they are going to be late I just hate all the BS.
Now, of coarse as smart as I am I order again. This time. I am told We are going to have to call you back today and let you know when your product will ship. I assume they cannot find my order or they could tell me. Ok. So after 4 hours and no return call, I call back. Then I am told Someone will call you back.. Don't worry you will get a call. Ok???? So now its been 1,2,3,4...5 days. Still no call. So, I call back... But wait. Nobody even answers the phone now....
This is the service I would expect from Bob's backyard 4x4. You would think a company as BIG as Avalanche could afford an answering machine that would tell you noone is around and leave a message. Instead they tell you all reps are busy helping other customers, please hold to talk to the next available rep.
I am not going to sit on hold for hours and rack up a huge bill and they are all out wheeling.
I don't know what to do, I am tempted to cancel my order. But I cannot even do that, nobody is there.
Well Avalanche, if you want people to dump tons of money on your product you better get with the program and fix the customer service problems your having or you will not be getting any more of my business or anyone I know.
Anybody else have problems with these guys yet?
Clifton is a semi-regular around here... I'm sure he'll chime in with his side of the story.
I don't know him or his operations, but I'd bet a case of your favorite micro-brew that they are not as "big company".

everytime i try them at that # it goes through. and i call them way too much. dollar to donuts curt pics it up. i doubt they are ignoring you, they aren't as big as you think, they just get a little busy. but their products are well worth it, and they are great guys. call cliff and tell him your problem and i am sure he will work it out. if you really can't get ahold of him, pm me your phone # and i will get him on his cell and ask him to call you, i'm sure he doesn't want to lose a customer. or if you wait around, i'm sure he will notice this thread and answer.
Matt K 01-28-2002, 04:20 PM Yeah, I know there not a BIG company, but anybody charging multiple $$$K's for axles is obviously making enough profit to get an answering machine or return phone calls. I have talked to Curt many many times. I just don't understand why I am having such problems with these guys. All of my 4x4 friends think I am nutz for dumping the money for their parts, but I don't want to spend every waking moment wrenching when I have a life as well.
But then all I get is the BS of listening to them and the guys in our club taunt me about how much $$$$ I spend with people like Avalanche. Should have just let us build it, would have been done sooner.
The reason I spend big $$$ is because I want parts quickly and expect a very well built product. The product is there where is the rest?
Bgcj5 01-28-2002, 08:16 PM I have always had good luck with them. I called one day to ask about high steer arms and the mixing and matching of components weel the guy talked with me for a good half hour and answered all my questions. I called back a couple of weeks later and ordered them arms and they showed on my door in 2 days. I was very satifisied with them
onetoncv 01-28-2002, 09:07 PM I orderd my dana 60 rockgaurd and it showed up on time and the price was right- every time i call they answer the phone - but they did just make a change on there phone system maybe its not quite all together yet- ? call and talk to clifton -Jess
Matt K 01-28-2002, 09:47 PM For me to talk to Clifton, someone has to answer the phone. I probably spent over an hour on hold waiting to talk to the next rep during the day today.
The only thing I ever ordered from them was a heim joint. It was very good quality andf I got it quickly - did not have to wait long on the phone, either. I talked to them about some custom suspension parts, but when they told me they recommended 4" OME springs for my TJ, I lost some faith. The guy said he had ridden on them, but there is no such animal commericially available.

BRUISER-42 01-28-2002, 10:18 PM Hey Matt, I'am greatly sorry that your having so much trouble with your springs and getting through to us. We spend alot of time with everyone that calls because our eqipment can take alot of tech explanation. So I know it can be frustrating. We have not forgotten you, I beleive the proplem is that we have the wrong phone number on file. Curt has been unable to contact you at the number we have, it transfers immediately to a group company voice mail wich doese not list your name. I'am quite sure we wrote the information down wrong and that it is completely our fault. Please understand that Curt has been very distraught , and has inquired if I had heard from you. Please PM me with a way to contact you and you will here from one of us tomarrow, and we will get you taken care of. I'm truley sorry for the confushion. Clifton

Matt K 01-29-2002, 09:33 AM I did recieve a call from Avalanche today. Curt appologized several times for the lack of communication and slow response.
He seemed very sincere and intent on resolving any and all problems that I have had.
Thanks
Curt & Clifton
Hope to see those springs soon.......... :)
Once again, the PBB comes to the rescue.
Cliff, thanks for being a stand up guy.
Matt, thanks for not being a dick about how you handled this.
