I did a home brew shortening on a 9". Cut the tube at the diff housing and beat it back in. When I put a protractor on the tube I shortened it reads 0 degrees on 4 sides. Today I put the shaft in and the wheel bearing siezes up before I get the retainer plate bolted all the way down. My question is if the tube in out a few thousandths would that be the source of my problems? Any ideas?

sounds like you may ahve shortened the housing too much, maybe the axle is hitting the diff in the center before the bearing seats, the housing being out slighlty side to side or up or down would not do this, I put one together that was bent and the bearing was fine

axle shaft was 1/32" or so too long. Problem solved, thanks for the help!
