I am going to be flipping the tapers on my steering knuckles and I was wondering if the stock knuckles are cast steel or iron. I assume, by looking at them, they are cast steel. Or, are they forged steel? For the replacement bushing to flip the tapers, I was thinking of machining some cold rolled stock, anyone have any suggestions?

People think that they need to use bushings to do a flip. You really dont need to, just taper the knuckle 1/2 way from the other side and tighten the nut. DONT OVER TAPER THE HOLE. We do this all time. Hundreds of them. Will work fine.

Doc,
I don't know why I thought past that, probably because someone was talking about the bushings and I thought that I could machine one very easily here at work. As for the tapering from the other side, what tooling do you, personally, use for the job? I could think of a million things, but what have you found to be the best, to give you the best taper, etc.?
Thanks!

I dont remember the part #, but the tool trucks sell them. Its a reamer with I think a taper of 1.5 a foot. If you need the # let me know and I'll see what I can do.
