I was just wondering if anybody has done the twin stick conversion on the Dana 300 using the original shifters? I have made the small metal plates to bolt onto the shift rails, but was needing to know if there is anything that needs to be done to the internals of the case. If so I am getting ready to order the 4 to 1 kit and will wait untill it gets in before I do this. Any info would be great

By just doing the twin stick you will be able to get rwd low. But if you remove the interlock pills thare between the two shift rails you will open up fwd high. You must be careful though because you then take the chance of putting the front in high and the rear in low (or vise versa) at the same time. Talk about breaking u-joints OUCH!!!

I used a dana 300 shifter and a dana 20 shifter...works well.

Thanks for the info. DO you know if you still have to remove the shift rails and the pills when installing the Currie twin stick? I would imagine you do.

You do if you want all of the options.

I figured out how to grind one of the shift rails to allow independant operation of front low or high and rear low or high but it also prevents engagement of a high and low and the same time. I can't remember what I did to obtain this but I had to grind one shift rail by lengthening one of the grooves about a 1/2" I believe it was the front rail. I let others drive (including woman so I thought this would be better.)

Good luck,
Jon

jonscj7....Thanks for the help. I will look into that. It would be a great help since I sometimes let my wife or a friend of mine drive also. I will be doing the 4 to 1 and the twin stick in a few weeks so all the info I can get is great. Again Thanks.
