Im not a newb.. But I know nothing about fords. Guy at my work has a 77 ford ranger, all stock in really nice shape that wont pass smog. So he's going to sell it really cheap. It has a pumped up motor, no smog stuff on it.
Anyways my question is can you guys tell me what axles, tranny and t-case might be in this thing? and what parts are worth money? or worth using?

Theres a hole slew of parts that could/would be on there.. Only way to know really is to look. It's real old, who knows what happened in the last 25 years or so. Also depends on what F-series is it, the Ranger designation is a trim package. Could still be f150 or f250, i think you could get the Ranger package on F350's also.

from the factory it could be 300-i6, 351M, 400(m as most people say), auto should be c6, tcase could be np203 or np205.. yadda yadda. This is really easy stuff to find already said and done, so I'm gunna stop there.

to add to above, if its a manual should be a np-435 (possibly t-18) HP dana 44 in front, 9" in rear.

The axle info only applies if it's a F150. The Ranger package was avalable on all F-Series in 1977.
