Looking for a Front and Rear D60 for my next project. I figure I better start looking now. What vehicles had High Pinion D60's

Driveline angles are improved.

I understand when using a High Pinion in the Front it is stroanger then a Lower...........However I have been told when used in the rear they are weaker? Is this true?

1. Use the search feature... it works - honest.
2. You're correct. RC in front is stronger in front, weaker in the rear. Advantage of using it in the rear is that you have a greatly reduced driveshaft angle - key in a short wheelbase vehicle.

a high pinion/reverse cut axle (NOT reverse rotation) has the gears cut in a different direction (hence reverse cut) and the pinion mounted in a different location (hence high pinion). the reverse cut gears make it stronger in front because the pinion is pressing on the strong side of the rign gear while moving forward.

picture of a standard cut differential (http://willypete.freeservers.com/images/rear_diff.jpg), notice how the ring gear teeth have a flat side and a side that is at a 45* angle? the flat side is the strong side. you lose about 15-25% strength when pressing against the beveled side.

blah blah... that was long winded.

Although a reverse cut 60 in the rear is going to be weaker than a normal cut 60 in the rear, it is still going to be more than strong enough than what you need - look no further than the overwhelming number of ARCA guys using them (successfully) under the most brutal of circumstances.

The high pinion is really worth it. I have a normal rotation 44 in the rear, with SOA lift u joint angles are getting pretty steep, that's why I am constantly searching the ads for a 78 - 79 F250/350 4X4 going cheap......

There's no need to hunt around for a HP60 for the rear of your XJ. The angles aren't an issue with that long of a d-shaft. Ask me how I know.
