well i took it out for its first spin since its total reconstruction.
86 ford bronco with a small block c6 with lokar sfifter brand new built by hughes performance
1990 357 windsor that is 98% brand new that came out of a 1990 f150.

i took out and it wont shift on its own i have to manually shift each gear.
at first i thought it was because the vacumm line from the modulator wsnt hooked up. so i hooked that up and it still does the same thing.
i also thought it was becuase the fluid was alittle low so i put 2 more quarts in and that didnt fix it either.

do you guys have any ideas i know the trans shifter linkage needs adjustment but do you think that could be it.

That is a bit difficult to figure out from your post, but a couple things come to mind...

1. Did you ever drive that tranny before? Did it shift correctly then?

2. If it is new to you - do you know if it has ever had a full race shift kit installed into the valve body? It is possible to make them full manual shift. The cure then is either to shift it manually or to get a new valve body.

3. The shift linkage is not allowing it to go into D (Drive) - but then you likely would 't get the other gears either...

4. Something is hanging up in the valve body - and or a check ball is missing.

Those are about the only things I can think of off the top of my head that can lead a C6 to not shift automatically. Someone else might have another idea.

There is also the possibility that the shift linkage inside the pan isn't engaging the valve that slides back and forth in the valve body correctly. You would have to pull the pan to be sure.

I would place a call to the people that you got the tranny from and ask them what they think. Otherwise - just shift it manually.
