I'm starting to look into buying a 1994 or 95 ram and know not too much about them. I know dodge auto tranny's are junk so were all teh 5 speeds in these years the nv4500?
what axles are factory in the 1500 or the 2500?
were x cabs available in teh first year of production on the new body style?
tell me if I'm right here....the 318 wasn't available in the x-cab, just the 360?I'm not a newbie...just a newbie to dodges.

you have to be kidding me.
seriously.
these are EASY questions that I am asking here.
I can't believe that I am on the "hardcore" board of the internet asking elementary questions about a product that I am not familiar with and I can't even get a single reply even though seven of you all have already looked at this?
this is a joke. I'm sorry if this affends you all but if this is the level of comrodery that dodge enthusiasts share than I'll just stick with my Jeep.
you all should be embarrased about this.

I do not know about the manual tranny questions. All I think I can help you with is I think all 1500s had a dana 44 front and a Chrysler 9.25 rear. I do not know much about these trucks. The person who will know is PW he will reply. You might want to delete your other post it might make folks not want to help you.
The newest dodge I own is an 87 so I don't know the newer stuffs equipment availabilty. As to all the autos being junk and I'm an embarrasment; bite me!

1500/2500 V8s use the standard duty NV4500 and V10's and Cummins have the NV4500HD
In the 1500s (and 2500LD made only in 94-95) the front axle is a Dana44 and the rear is a Chrylser 9.25". In the 2500s the axles depend on the engine/tranny combinations. All 2500HDs have the Dana 60 front.
The 2500s have Dana 60 rear with the V8 and autos. The V10/Cummins and autos have Dana 70 rear, the V10/Cummins with manual has the Dana 70/80 hybrid rear and the 3500 has big Dana 80 in the rear.
The 318 is available with the auto or manual. You can NOT get a 360 with the manual tranny in the 1500's.
As far as I know the body style is irrevelent of the engine option.

thanks paveman, that is exactly the info I was looking for.
as for deleting the other post...why? if that was the only way I could get any of your attention than it worked.
thanks again for the info paveman.
a few more questions....the gen 4x4 board comes up with the questions about the dana 61's and other oddball axles in dodges...are these the older leaf sprung axles or are these the newer body styles?
I am looking for a 360/nv4500 combo, so that means I am going to have to go to the 2500.....what gear ratios were available in that combo?

No problem. About that other post of yours, it may have been made in jest, but not every one that has the answer can check the board all the time. I would have answered sooner if I was here sooner (not saying I was the only one with the answer).
The Dana61's and stuff are Ford and early Ddoge axles.
Yes, the 360/nv4500 combo requires the 2500. Be sure to get the 2500HD as the years you are looking at have a 2500LD model with the smaller axles.
As for gear ratios, 3.55 is the standard gear ratio for V8's. Available options are 3.21 (I think), 3.55, 3.92 and 4.10 from the factory. There are a whole bunch of aftermarket ratios though.

If you want a NV4500, you have to go with the 2500.
1500's came with the NV3500.:emb:

Sorry to say this, but I've used only slushboxs on my mopars, and NEVER had a problem with them. Other than the chevy TH400, why do you think jeep only used the dodge slushboxs?
HHHHHMMMMMMMMMM...................
As to the rest of your attention getting info, try a little patience here. My reasoning for why there are'nt as many threads on the DODGE bulletin could be due to that DODGE owners spend more time behind the wheel WHEELIN' , VS. the "other guys" spendin' more time on the 'puter BSing about what E1 else is saying.
(thats just my theory).
