Lookin' at finally gettin' the SAS done this winder to the Bronco but I was wondering. Has anyone pushed the axle forward an inch or two. I'm already modifyin' the fenders to make the bumper I've got designed out fit nice and tight so I don't think that will be an issue. But I was thinkin' about approach angle and such, plus a couple inches on the wb shouldn't hurt would it.

Thanks, Phil

Oh yea, if it matters it's an '84 with 351W and the axle will be a HP44 for time bein'. (Because I'm too damn Broke!) Tires will be 35's as well.

Move it as far forward as you can. Even 2 inches will help. Not only do you get a longer wheelbase and better approach angle, but it will also slightly even out the front/rear weight bias. IMHO there is no reason not to move the front forward if you can.

Moving it forward will also keep the tire from rubbing the rear of teh wheel well at full compression and if you move it forward enough you might not have to notch the crossmember as much for clearance.

Justin, I'm already gonna be running the 6" superflex springs in the front with all 79 spring buckets and such so I don't think I'm gonna have too much of a problem with the pumpkin. Only thing is I'm worried about the pitman arm not bein' long enough.

Does anyone think that may be a problem, and if so, could I just get a longer one. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go ahead and redo all the steering with heims at that time anyways so.

Thanks, Phil

I'm with 45 and the others - push it forward - you gain a lot of advantage with a longer wheelbase for climbing and having those front tires right at the front edge makes for some crazy approach angles.
