I THINK I'm having some cooling (well, heating actually) issues with the 22RE in my 4runner. I've replaced the stock temp gauge with an aftermarket gauge and I do not believe the accuracy of the gauge is an issue. I have the temp sensor for the gauge mounted in the thermostat housing where a stock temp sensor used to be, on the radiator side of the thermostat. It was my understanding that this is where the sensor for the stock gauge mounts, and the sensor used by the EFI system was elsewhere on the head.
Is this correct? Or does having the sensor located there give me a false reading?
During a hard drive on the freeway the engine might get all the way up to 150 degrees, I get little heat from the heater (core is known to be in good shape) and stoping and putting my hands on the engine does not feel like it's up to mormal operating temp. I've replaced the thermostat with a spare (180 degree, used) with no noticeable change, so I'm not entirely sure its a stuck thermostat.
Thanks for any ideas guys,
Tate
