alright i just finished installing my dual cases in my 84 toy, and i have about 4 different howling/griding noises. i replaced the driveline and already moved the crossmember back. everytime i give it gas, there is a consecutive popping noise and when i let off the gas it sounds like there is gears grinding. i draned the gear oil outta the tranny and metal shavings were pouring out. it all shifts fine still but probably not for long. should i first take off the rear diff and check the r&p make sure its all good before i go to the tranny and t-cases?

I don't have much toy specific info, but I'd start getting in towards the tranny. Pull the rear t case, check the rotation to make sure nothing is binding. Ensure the mating is correct. Then do the same with the forward t case. Is the mating correct? Is there supposed to be anything that holds the tranny main shaft from moving forward or back (snap ring, etc). Is all that in place. Is there any movement in the main shaft on the tranny? Not familiar with toy tranny, but pull the lid or pull a cover and check for any movement/slop. My guess is that the main shaft is being allowed to move, but its just a guess.
