im looking at a set of 39s and the middle tread is at the wear bars the tires were over inflated to the outside lugs are still good around 1/2" plus. How deep can the centers be grooved untill I hit chords?

just grove the wear bars down to the same as the rest of the carcas of the tire and you will be good.

on most goovers you can adjust the depth. just be mindful of that too, or you might get down to far.

I grooved all of my wear bars out to make my tires last another season. While I was at it, I cut the lugs in the center into three pieces and halfway grooved the outers.
