Easiest way would be to locate an XJ Dana 44. Same width, same bolt pattern. Some 80's cherokees with the tow package had em.

Mid 70's Ford F100 will have a 61" wide 44 but it will be 5X5.5

Wouldn't a mid 70's Ford have a 9"?

Rockrat, don't forget about the Explorer 8.8. Same width (within an inch anyway) same bolt pattern, and bolts in. You also get rear disc brakes and its slightly stronger than the D44.

There's one in the For Sale section, minus brakes if you are interested....(that's a shameless plug 'cause I'm the seller).....hope nobody minds.

You want to swap both front & rear, right?
Get them from an '81 or newer full size Waggoneer.
Do NOT get the front from an '83 - '84 with vacume disconnect.
They might have have an AMC 20 rear, but they are about as good as a D44.
You cannot use a Scout front with your tansfer case.
