: how to wire dual alts.

anyone done this? how do you properly wire this set up?

No I haven't done it, but CUCV's utilized dual altenators. Each altenator charge one battery, wired in series they provided 24V to operate the starter, glowplugs, and tranciever (ONLY). One battery/altenator provided 12V for lights and accessories (heater). Dual altenators were a requirement to provide both 24V/12V otherwise one 24V altenator over charge one battery and/or undercharge the other.

GM accomplished the dual alt thing by utilizing a "isolated ground altenator". What exactly this is and how it differs from a regular alt I'm not sure. I'll have to take a closer look at one at work; this weekend I can ask one my 62G who rebuilds 'em MAYBE he knows:usa:
