: advice please? ford vs. chevy
anti-christ666 01-30-2002, 12:45 AM I have an opportunity to trade my 74 ford ext cab 4x4 for a 79 blazer 4x4, my father in law needs it (my p-u) for work, and i dont need it for work, he has alot more cash into his truck than i do, but my cash spent on my ford was recent.
His trucks been over time so some of what he fixed is ageing.
I really like his blazer but i am not familiar with chevy trucks.
what should i look for?
is a blazer 350 on gas any different than a ford 390 on propane?
I was almost at the point of finally breaking down and trading with him, but part of me just thinks im trading because i want to help him out.
really to me i dont care which truck i have but he seems to want my truck very much and i understand why.
if you understand my dilemma please let me know what you think.
thanks
Chad H 01-30-2002, 03:06 AM Uhhhh, You'd trade a ext cab 74 4x4 for a blazer? You need help....
No but really, the Fords worth more than a blazer...IMO

Hey! Git outta here furd boy! :flipoff2:
What do you do with a truck? I used to have a truck. Now I own a blazer. I wouldn't go back to a truck. Unless I get horses or something where I'd need to haul a gooseneck, I'd never go back to a truck. Of course, you can pull the top off the blazer and you can hook a gooseneck to it.
Seriously though, unless you haul a lot of big stuff and you don't have a trailer, you'd really enjoy a blazer. I can fit lots of freinds in it, lots of groceries :D, I can use it for a tent when I go camping, I can wheel in it, it hauls my hubby's '56 GMC project all over, it does everything! Parts are cheap. I love my blazer. They're extremely versital! And on nice days, I can take the top off  Plus, blazers are just sweet looking! And a little bit more rare than a pickup.
Grim Reaper 01-30-2002, 10:33 AM Them old extended cab fords are pretty neat trucks. If your wanting to wheel I would swap though. That 9 inch has issues when wheeling. Great street axle but you smack the rim and drive the axle in it will break the wheel bearing race EVERY time. Then the busted peice cuts the oil seal out.
K5 stock is a pretty good wheeling truck. put $600 into it for lift and shocks and it's a hell of a wheeling righ. Parts are cheaper all the way around.

anti-christ666 01-31-2002, 01:09 AM I actually talked with my step dad today, actually moms boyfriend but whatever.
he says that if i was to trade him that he would get a big mural painted on the side of my ford, i have a galvanized box which ive been told is rare, and the entire cab has been rust repaired professionally (floors)
my green and white two tone paint is still nice, and its original paint.
my moms boyfriends jimmy has new paint (metallic blue) which i like alot, i know he has fixed every inch of that thing, so i told him we could trade for a week first to see how it goes, i just had my power steering pump blow, and i bought a used one to throw on.
my 390 is rebuilt a year ago, on propane, new rims and tires, all around good except the brown interior (dont like brown)
thanks for your help.
powermad 01-31-2002, 04:51 AM Hmmm that would be such a hard choice.
People actualy want a ford???
Engines that are crap........ Run with it and don't look back.
I swear the one guy at work, his favoritre saying is...
Just wait till I get the Bronco going. BWHAHAHAHAHA.
My favorite saying?.... I drive mine every day LOL.
104 miles to and from work and I wheel mine.
Must be a Chevy thing. :smokin:

Agreed...RUN WITH IT!!! The Chevy will save you $$$ on repairs in the long run over the Ford!
It's a Chevy thing...You wouldn't understand:D:flipoff2:
Shawnboy 02-04-2002, 01:55 PM Take the Blazer and run. You can get parts from almost anywhere and from anything Chevy cheap!!!! The Blazer is a lot better looking vehicle and depending on how your insurance works you might find it cheaper because of the shorter wheelbase. If you plan to do any wheeling I'm sure the lifts are cheaper as well. Also the shorter wheelbase is better for wheeling.

WTF are you talking about?
Is the Ford a 250 or a 150? I'd prolly keep it, unless you want the interior space/shorter truck.
