I have a 96 1/2 ton extended cab GMC with a 6" Pro-Comp lift. Of course with good ol IFS I've got problems. I have some creaking noises on the passenger side when I turn or hit bumps. I am thinking it may be the idler arm but not sure. I just put a new Hub and axle on that side and I know they are good. My question is how do I tell if the upper or lower ball joints are wearing out?? Is there any way to check this?? I hope they are still good because I heard the are a pain to replace. Any info is appreciated.

I'll tell you most of us in here are solid axle folks. You might try the Chevy forum at www.off-road.com and ask there. Lot more IFS people there could probably get you an answer fast.
