Can anyone tell me why closed knuckle D44's are less desireable than open knuckle D44's. I have a line on some new axles and want to know if they are worth the cash.

I dont think EB's ever used closed knuckle dana 44s. Maybe a really old one will have a closed knuckle 30, but 44's weren't installed till sometime in the early 70's.

Jeeps used closed knuckle 44's, but the diff would be on the otherside than the EB axle.

And as to why they are no good... limits turning radius and I think the way the knuckle is shaped you can only run a 260 ujoint and not a 297

how much are they asking for them? if they are cheap then it wont matter if they are open or close knuckle
