So whats the cheap easy way to mount the pump to my 2F? I have al the old brackets and mounts just looking for pics ideas or ways to get around the high dollar pre-made brackets or are they really worth the bucks?

I mounted mine where the smog pump was. Worked great!

I'm will be going a step further sometime between now and Moab. I'll be putting both a Saginaw pump (to replace the wimpy Toyota PS pump) and a York compressor on the driver's side of the engine. Hopefully I'll come up with some "repeatable" bracket that others could use...

On a side note: I talked to the folks at JT Outfitters, and they are working on developing the same thing. Just don't know the price or when it will be out yet.

Either way, I'll keep ya posted!

Late 70s and early 80s Volvos have a Saginaw pump that uses the same wide 17/32 belts as the 2F. While you are pulling the Saginaw, you can also pull the York compressor sitting underneath it.

Here is a look at how you can mount a 2F and other things on the drivers side of a 2F without having to rearrange everything permanently:

Cool! I keep thinking about adding A/C to my FJ40, more I think about it... ah, time to go for air and the welder. Of course come August.... Nice to have a TOW rig. Sweat all day wheeling and wrenching, and keep a cold one (Dr. Pepper of course) in the rig to enjoy afterwards with cold A/C blowing. Hmm, time to build a full cage!

Dave -- if you make it up this way, stop on in. You'd get a kick out of my garage. :p Just need loads more time to practice my welding.

For on board welding, I had snagged the ZENA unit off eBay a few months back. They do a trick of field control for the alternator to vary the current when welding. Makes it a little easier to adjust your welding voltage without messing with engine speed (like the Premier unit).

Tom,

My parents live in Buda, Brother is in Austin and I have a couple of friends who live in Round Rock (workin' for Dell)... So I make the trip up I35 quite a bit! I'll shoot you an email next time, so we can hook up... I wanna check out the garage and that nifty new Chebby Tow rig! :D

Dave,

Sounds good. Next time you are up this way drop a note, and stop on in. I'm about two miles from exit 253 off I-35.

Current project is converting my milling machine (Index555 looks like a Bridgeport) to CNC, but weather has been too nice... so I want to get out and wheel!

Back to the bracket for the power steering pump. A functional, but kludge, is on my fj40. Two photo's are at:

Four flat pieces of 1/4" plate. One against the block, two and three make arms around the old GM mount, four is a support. Nothing fancy, but was on there when I bought my rig, and works fine. :D

WAKE UP!!!!!

That's right, wakin' this post up from the dead! :flipoff2: reorx, did you ever get this done? I'm wantin' to see some info on this for an FJ60 (or anything with a later 2F). I don't want to mess with the alt or the factory A/C. My power steering pump has been dumping out it's fluid for quite some time now and I think the recent upgrade to 35s has killed it. Noisy and leakin' like a banshee. I WON'T pay for a new OEM one and for that matter don't care to get an OEM one. My smog pump is gutted and just there for a belt tensioner...this sounds like just what I need. Seems like if you got a pump with a remote resevoir you could put it down low (smog pump location) and mount a York above... And don't anybody try to tell me to search or check Woody's site 'cause I've been doin' that for the past 4.5 hours!!! :flipoff2: (but if you know of a thread with this info, post it up 'cause i didn't see one!) :flipoff2:

On a side not, found info that a tercel power steer pump can be easily adapted to the smog pump bracket. Any chance that sucker would last pushin' 35s? Is it possible to modify the flow and such like can be done on Saginaws (as per westexasoffroad.com)? What about a mini truck pump with remote resevoir? Edit: Also saw something mentioned about a mazda truck remote resevoir by Cruiseroutfit, but no other info... Got any?

Anybody got any of these pumps in with a york (or other compressor I guess) on the DRIVER'S side? And pushin' 35s or 37s?
