Hey guys,

I am going to buy some new springs for my 74 FJ40. I am considering purchasing some with the 2 1/2 inch lift. I see where TPI has some springs, the whole set with shocks and cantlever shackles for approximately 800.00. Has anyone used these springs and what can you tell me about them as to quality? I would really like to get some OME springs but they are almost twice the price. Also, would you go to the 4 inch lift? I would really appreciate some input here as this is going to be somewhat a major investment for me.

Thanks,
HOOT Murray

These 2.5 inch "Smokey Mtn" springs are intended to be close copies of the OME spring and are made by McCoy Bros in Alberta Canada. They don't have the OME patented flat spot where the spring perch bolts up to, but they use the same large eye bushings, have the same number of leaves, tapered tips and friction pads on the tips as the OME. MAF and JTO sell the same spring, so shop around. I have had them on my FJ40 for 2 years now and they have been fine so far.

I have heard good reports on the TPI springs.
