Now here I'm stuck. This is before I had any lockers. Little trap left by a big dog with about the same wheel base as me. Basicly rolled in seemed solid and fell in a couple holes somebody wallowed out.

That pic is actually from a video produced by 4X Extreme Video Magazine http://www.4xvideo.com, its from thier Moab EJS '01 video. They taped the trail when I ran it with 2 buddies, the video is pretty cool, I like their stuff a lot better than most of the other ones I've seen.

There's a big v shaped type notch under the truck, it was just dragging the body, not the t-case. The very last thing you see on the video is me sledgehammering my rockers so the door would open/close at the end of the trail.

The truck doesn't sit near as high as it looks in that pic, the axles were kind of dangling there.

I've got a Dana 30 up front and a ford 9" w/discs in the rear. I will work into a Dana 44 but this one works for now. This is my daily driver so I have to do it in pieces on weekends. It's got a 4.3 v6, 4l60e, np231 for the go power. Yes it's part street queen, but when it's a few years older I'll probably hack it up a little more. It's a '97 with 45k on it too.

Nice rockers, SMP. Currently working on the pass. side on mine-got tired of working on it last summer and decided to wheel it with just the one side done. Got the driver's side door modified to fit, too (gets a tad colder here in CO than in Tempe :D, the motivation for fixing the door was getting caught in the snow in Dec. when I had to go get an E-test).

I bought it as a stock '79 blazer. I chopped the top but I did it in a way so I can run a '73-'75 soft top. I dropped in a 383, welded and swapped a 14 bolt in, regeared to 4.56's front and rear and some other stuff. I need to build a roll cage, save money for a D60 so I can lock it, do cross over on it, and I have a $100 gift certificate to a place that sells assist :D

It's not a big bad rig, but it's fun :)

02-21-2002, 07:03 PM
relsquash that is a nice rig. Why didnt you get a d60 from a newer dodge and then use the 231c and a short shaft kit. That would be easer in the fab dept. Nice work though.

Pdaddy that is slick I like the old body to. What did you get your axles out of a 'ejpe'. what size rubber are you going to go with?

Um, well I wanted to run something stout to go behind the 454. I also started with a 2 wd to save on costs because I bought the truck with this purpose in mind. Here are the specs....

-454, AL heads, roller goodies, port EFI with a GMECM reprogrammed by myself

-Chevy D60 front and 14BFF rear, disks all around

-NP205, ORD doubler (not yet ordered), TH400

Right now I've only got 35" boggers on it, I have been looking into 42" TSL's, I built it to fit 39+ with fender trimming.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that I am running 16" travel Sway-Away coilovers with 3-links front and rear, high steer with DIY ram assist. It isn't done yet, i'm giving myself until April 1 to get it moving... I started on Xmas week...

Well, I guess it's time to "put up" my junk... It's a little fuzzy from the downsizing but, you get the idea. Still gotta loosen that front suspension up, and cut about 20" out of the wheel base, but it's working better than I expected it to at this stage.

I am doing similar things to my 76 Short Bed. With only 4 inches of lift do your 42's have any contact with the front of the cab? I am running a 3" body lift in addition to 4" Rancho front springs and am considering moving the cab back 2 or 3 inches to help clear the tires. What width rim are you running with what backspacing?

BadDog
05-04-2002, 05:20 PM
I cut off the nut on pinch weld off. Then I beat the pinch weld flat. Then I beat the firewall back a couple of inches at the point (actually comes to a sort of point there) where it was closest to the tire. That worked ok but was really close. My front springs aren't working too well right now and I was afraid it would hit when I get them loosened up. So, I've now moved the axle forward 2" to clear the firewall AND to improve the approach angle.

As for wheels, they are super cheap 15x8 8 lug buggies with 4" of backspacing.

I hope it works this time.

5.7L 350 v8, 3.73 gears, tow package. I think I might get 14sf, and also might get 4.10 gears. I will have to see how it pulls before I change gears.

Well, here's a pic of it semi-flexed. All is well with the truck, it's got tons of power and no front driveshaft. I broke both the front shocks, so they're not hooked up either. Other than that 2WD with 8psi gets me more places than 4wd did last year with 40's....

http://www.bogginfreaks.com/phpreaders/albums/MR4WD/abm.jpg

BIG big block, fully manual 400, 32 spline 205 transfer case, 1410 rear drive shaft, (1350 front cv shaft in the garage that don't work!) 5.13's and detroits front and back. Disc brakes. 44" boggers on 15x14 beadlocked barts.

I rolled it last april so I bought another cab and swapped it out. I switched from the 233 t case to a 231 to get the manual shifting. I went 3/4 eliptical and shortened the wheelbase 14" in the back. I have a Dana 30 up front with a 9" in the back but I have a 44 and 60 waiting in the garage for when I win the lottery. I have to do a bunch of work on the 44 to get it to work right, but I have a military 8 lug disc setup for it. I moved a 22 gal fuelcell to the back behind the axle and moded it to use the stock fuel pump. I'm running 35x12's since I don't think the front wells can take much more. The cage is by me and still needs more work.
