just swapped the input shafts from a 205 that was behind a sm465 to a 205 that was behind a th350. everything went in easy and good but with the sm465 bolted together with it. there is a lot of play between the T-case and Tranny( a little less than a 1/4 turn on the output of the T-case). is this normal
it seems as though the play is comming from the sleeve in the adapter that connects the 205 to the sm465

is the sleeve worn at all? that is a very common failure. I have a Rockwell T221 that did the same thing...it ruined the sleeve and eventually took the output shaft of the tranny with it

10 spline inputs are sloppy, and are noted for getting even more sloppy with wear, if it needs replaceing you may want to consider upgrading to a 32 spline input while you have it apart anyway.

Advance Adapter for one. easy google. Off Road Design (http://www.offroaddesign.com/) has a fairly good NP205 tech info page with good pics of each input shaft.
