hey, just ordered me up a roadless gear gm alternator bracket. my question is, what kind of gm alternator do i use. the page didn't say, just said a normal gm alternator. also what i'm wondering is, can i wire the alternator straight to the battery to avoid the whole stock wire harness 30 amp problem. one last thing, are the gm cs-144 and cs-130 alternators compatable. thanks

GM 12-si 1974 to 1984 is what is used I believe. I have one from a 76 Impala and it works great. I wired the alt to the factory harness and then ran a jumper wire from the large single wire connector on the back of the alt. to the positive side of the battery.

we've used both si and cs type alts. the one wire alts are the ezest to convert, but some tines they dont have a verry high output at idle.
