: OHV riding in San Diego area

Through a fortunate set of events I will be in the So. Cal area with my 1990 DR350 in the middle of March.

I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of where I should go for a ride in the San Diego area. I am looking for an OHV park type area that has (insert typical CA terrain style here) for an afternoon ride. I am sort of interested in rocky terrain and trails, as well as some open areas (if such a beast exists)

Can anyone point out some areas I should consider looking at?

Also is there a sticker (emission stuff?!?) I need to get for my bike before I can ride in California OHV parks?
Or can I just use this line when confronted by an enforcement officer

"I am a Canadian citizen, your Mickey Mouse laws don't apply to me!" :D

just kidding about the last part

thanks for any help or input

Check out this website. I have found alot of good info on this subject. www.employees.org/~calridng

I don't know about the stickers but they do have contact numbers for the specific areas you could call.

Hope this helps and have fun!

In California, you can ride with the registration you have from there. If nothing is required where you are just carry your Id or drivers license to prove you are not from here.

Does anybody have pics of the Lark Canyon area? And do you know if you can access the trails from the Lark Canyon campground?

Thanks

Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead....but I have another question.

After posting here I was under the assumption I needed no decal for riding in California OHV parks. But last night I came across something called "Non-Resident OHV Permit" and it sounds like I should have one before riding in Lark Canyon OHV Area. It is getting rather close to my departure date and I don't think I could send away and receive one in time.

Does anybody know what will happen if I get caught riding without one? Will I get a fine? impoundment? rubber glove-no lube? forced to listen to N-Sync?

thanks
JD
