OK
Call me stupid But I have a Few question. Back when I used to run a Bracket Car there were some basic but time consuming things that people used to do to there engines. I dont see these things being done any more.
1.) Debure and Radiouse all Edges on the Engine
2.) Paint the inside of the motor like deisels with some special paint
3.) Pin the harmonic Balancer
4.) CC the Head

These all used to be popular mods but you dont here of them anymore. Personally the only one I used to do was CC the head. And I never did figure out what the benifit of painting the inside of a motor was Much less Where to get the paint

they paint the insides of engines with Glyptol, I think thats the name, and it helps the oil flow, or heat transfer, one of those things thats Not really noticble most likely, but after 100 not noticeable mods on a super tuned engine, the results can be measureable I assume

I remember those days too. Now I am lucky if I have time to do an oil change before I go wheeling.

Just not enough time to do all that stuff. I used to love sitting there with a dremel tool and smoothing EVERY rough spot from the cast.....NOT. I guess if I really was out to win something and that was my job I would do all the small things again but not now.

I meen really
they used to claim that deburring the block improved its structural integrity..........I can seen knocking of the casting flash just for safty sake (so you dont get cut or it break off inside or something) But come on. And what the heck did pinning the harmonic balancer do? To me it would cause more problems then good

New ball game. back in the days of runnin 2 lane we did all those things and then some. Problem was we were turning 8 to 11K rpm. An offroader turning this tight wouldn't go far.
