Has anyone used a PARK-LOK for a Emergency Brake ? Seems like it would work well, But everywhere I look it says not to be used as emergency brake ! ( is that just for liability ) ???

PARK-LOK

Hydraulic Park-Lok uses line pressure to hold your brakes locked. Just push brake pedal down and push the Park-Lok lever. (Not to be used as an emergency brake.)

is it an electric silinoid? if so, then those shouldn't be used for any long term(overnight) use because of constant draw on the battery.

They main probable reason is because the emergancy brake is supposed to be a mechanical devisce independent of the fluid system. ie, if you tore a brake line loose, you could still use the emergancy brake to stop since its a cable.

now that doesn't mean everyone doesn't use them that way, its just not '100%, all out, exactly' proper. I still think that they would be great for something temporary like stoping on a trail and scouting out ahead.

If that is the little square with the spring loaded black plastic knob, I have tried them...any pressure loss at all and they seem to let go. And if you hit the pedal by mistake it releases. It takes as much plumbing as the ball valve or mico lock, but is not as positive. imho

I also read a review that while they might be able to be used as an emergency brake, they will not pass inspection without a true emergency brake also.
