Does anyone know how much weight a 1977 K-5 Blazer with a 400 SB and a Turbo 350 is rated to tow? Thanks.

I dont know off hand...but i just came up with this idea called trial and error...put a heavy load on it, drive it, and if you break something youll know next time the tow rating should be a little bit lower :flipoff2:

My Dad owned a 77 Jimmy w/400/TH350. Had plenty of power, but the short wheelbase hampered stability on mountain curves and the half ton semi-floater axles couldn't handle long term the tongue weight of a 24 ft rec trailer. Good truck for towing lightweight trailers like small boats, pick-up boxes, atv/snowmobile trailers, etc.

Combined Blazer & trailer... (assuming stock tire size)

3.07 ratio = 8,500lbs
3.73 rato - 10,500lbs

I used to tow (infrequently) with a '78 Jimmy with 350 & 3.40's. If you can keep the trailer around 5k or less, you'll be okay. Much more & you'd be pushing it IMO.

Wow!!! That's an awesome reference page that guy has made up. Does anybody know if there is a similar site for Ford pickups? Thanks.
