Ive got an '82 CJ7 with a TBI 350, SM465, and Dana300. I had mechanical clutch linkage in there but it liked to pull apart when i rolled the Jeep :p :D
I'd like to go to a hydraulic clutch but I'm having a hard time figuring out which master and slave unit to get.
The bellhousing and SM465 are from a '77 chev PU. How far to I need to move the clutch fork in order to properly disengage the clutch?
Will the hydraulic clutch setup from an '81 CJ with the 4cyl work?
Any (useful) suggestions ?:D

Not sure which pressure plate your using But... If it's a diaphram it doesnt need much movement and just about any setup will work. I'm running a borg & beck spring style with a ram "puck clutch" which is a mistake (chatter etc...But I had it laying around), and I use a CNC sand rail slave cyl. hooked up to the stock TJ master cyl. I made a mount to bolt to the stock chevy bellhousing and it locates the slave so it's centerd on the clutch fork. Looks like it moves the clutch fork about 3/4 to 1 inch and has worked perfectly for me...

Thanks for the response. Sounds like all I need to do is find something that will bolt to the firewall and the clutch pedal. Fabbing the mount on the bellhousing is easy enough.

Oops. Guess that would make a difference wouldn't it :D
I'm using a Dynapack clutch kit. It's essentially an OEM style clutch and pressure plate for a '77 one ton Chev. Figure it moves a 7,000lb truck and load around so it should be OK in my little 4,500lb Jeep.

AA has a kit to buy. I have it on my Scrambler with an 350, SM465. The kit has a bracket that mounts to the bell housing and then uses a Landcruiser slave cylinder, I think, that comes with it. Use the supplied bolts and SS line and buy a Stock Master cylinder for the CJ with a 4 cyl, like you asked above. The kit is made to work with that master cylinder. To install it all you have to do is cut out you fire wall a bit, bolt the master cylinder on, take off you clutch pedal grind down one of the rivets and dril a hole through it so you can insert a clivis pin in to atach to push rod of the master cylinder to the pedal and you are done. I had to grind the bracket a little to fit it to the bell housing better and called to complain about it and they couldn't give me any excuses why the design wasn't made to fit it exactly. The kit runs something like $130.00 and the master cylinder you have to buy runs from $85 to $160 depending on where you buy it from. Mepco had it in stock locally for me for $110 or something. I hope this helps.

After trying to use a stock CJ MC and pedal I finally gave up on mine and shelled out for a wilwood pedal, MC and slave.. and it was cheaper than using jeep stuff.
