Yeah it's been asked....but I still don't have an answer!! I gotta go wheelin this weekend!! ARGH!!!

What year toy truck pinion flange has the same splines as the cruiser fine splines?? I tore pic n pul up looking for one. And after checking 10 or so trucks, gave up.......to many...someone narrow it down for me. PLEASE!!!

Cool thanks jIMMy!!

I found plenty of round pinion flanges. But I still can't find one with the correct splines. I know for sure it was not the 86 and up trucks, I tried one from an 84, and one from an 83. But not from an 82. I will know for sure this weekend!! I gotta get some wheeling in before I tear the monster down for the 1 ton conversion! :D:D:D

Umm..........
I'm pretty sure ANY flange from 79-95 will have the correct size splines. The bolt patterns and outer circumference are the only differences.........I have a couple laying around.....I'll try to rmemebre to check them against my LC D-shaft tomorrow.

You should look for a front output flange from a 84-85 transfercase.
AFAIK these are the only minitruck flanges with the correct spacing and fastener size to match the large pattern LC yokes..........MINI CV= LC yoke.....

The patterns and fasteners from the earlier model minitrucks are smaller than LC
The splines (assuming fine spline) should all be the same from the mini truck to the LC......the only difference between the t-case flanges and axle flanges is the dust shields.....

Hey there is an idea!! Thanks I will try that tomorrow.

As for any truck flange from 79 to 95.........nope!! Tried an 87, 84, and 83 no dice! :(

I'd make sure the ends of your splines don't have a burr or something on them, because all the mini-truck splines (at least all I have ever seen) are the same. When I did mine I think I took the flanges from an '80 and an '84. The only difference was the bolt pattern.

Nope no bur, splines are visibly different. :( Spent the day at pic n pul saturday. (Got some new seats!! KICK ASS!!!) But no dice on the pinion flange. And there was not one Transfer case in the whole yard. :(

Looks like in order to get back on the trail until I start my 1 ton conversion I am going to have to order one from TPI. Damn I hate spending $60 on something that is going to go in the junk pile in a few months anyway. Damn.......damn damn.........:(

You sure you do not want me to send you one for a while??

I just need it back eventually so I can build my other axles...

Do you know what the spline count is? :D:D:D

Off hand no, but it is a stock 79 cruiser flange. 4 speed style (not the smaller three speed...) SO it fits the larger yoke. I guess I would not mind you redrilling it..

Well I have 1 more avenue to explore......and if I can nab one for cheap enough...I may just do that. But if you don't mind me re-drilling it......I will take you up on your offer.

Chris -

Are you sure you have a fine spline pinion? I have used the 79 - 83 on a friends rig. My current setup includes new units that fit either.
