: RAM Air
ryankalel 01-31-2002, 03:10 PM I have a buddy that is willing to fab a RAM air system for my 2F. I saw a system at his shop and it looked pretty nice. He also said that on top, or around the K&N I could place a bag, made by K&N, to keep the mud, dirt, and water out.
Would this be an overkill?
Thanks
ryankalel
Jason M 01-31-2002, 03:19 PM Don't you actually have to go Fast for the ram to work???
:D
Personally I think overkill. And useless. use the money for a better mod...
Yea, how does it "ram" the air?????????
The Jerk 01-31-2002, 03:36 PM its still a 2f and 2f's are :rainbow:

Yeah, what Jimmy said they are wayy to reliable
Getting a powerfull 2f is difficult but not impossible.
Besides, I still do not think power is everything.
I will not turn to the darkside!!!!!

:flipoff2: lol, i said the same thing when i had mine, then i drove a 350'd cruiser and switched sides! u just cant go to teh snow or sand and have the same amount of fun with the turd 6. i had more fun in pismo with ym blazer than i did my cruiser 2 years ago! jiMMy
Jason M 01-31-2002, 03:57 PM Perhaps.
But I have driven V8 cruisers and other 4x4's with sick motors. Kinda cool I guess. But I don;t overheat and just continue to go and go.
I would like more power for cruising hills. But by this summer we will see how much power you can get out of a 2F...
There is nothing like a turbo whine....
:D
BJ On Roids 01-31-2002, 06:46 PM nothing like a "little" turbo tio 'RAM' a little air into the engine!!!
;)
hehehehehehehe:smokin:
reorx 01-31-2002, 07:17 PM I think that a ram air system will only make your truck louder, not faster... :D
However, on the V8 note... I think a well-tuned TBI system on a 2F will make plenty of power for a LC in all but highway cruising...
But that's what the Suburban is for!
Lord Baskerville 01-31-2002, 07:24 PM A RAM-Air style intake/filter is not what you are talking about here.
I think.....
RAM-Air is a system that ties into the front area of the truck in some way so that when the truck is rolling down the road at speed air is forced into the filter/intake.
Such as.... Remove a headlight and pipe all the air for the intake from this point. Faster you go.....Faster the air is "charged" into the intake.
I think you are just talking about an open filter "high flow" intake system:D
If so...... Go ahead as long as you also have a high flow exhaust SYSTEM. You will notice some improvement.
But, don't make a H2O getter:flipoff2:

rustycruiser 01-31-2002, 08:22 PM A 2F has what, 150 horsies and 200 ft/lbs of torque? After all the work and money to make a ram air setup, what is the best guesstimate of a performance increase? Maybe 10 more horsepower? Maybe 15? Big whoop. An increase from 150 to 165 horsies isnot gonna allow you to take the Suburu at the green light. Spend the money on more worthwhile mods. Just my opinion.

DCruiser138 01-31-2002, 08:49 PM 2fs are :rainbow: just like said. but im waaayy too porr and have better plans w/ my money. shure ill keep the 2f forever till it blows...but im sure the hell not gonna waste time rebuildin the POS when i couls throw in a v8. or even a v6...anmyhting but a heavy ass boat anchor!
The Jerk 01-31-2002, 08:54 PM 300 ponies, yummy!

Ross supra , i dont think it will be in there though when i get my new brake crap. it worked great for my cruiser axels with 35's locked em up good and stopped no problemo. but teh 1 ton stuff needs a bit more power. jiMMy
dog walker 01-31-2002, 09:25 PM A 2F has what, 150 horsies Yeah with NOS hooked up! More like 125-135 (depending on models and years) but feels more like 80HP!

Doh! I was thinking about my 3F, which has 150 ponies. 135. I guess that is why all those F motors have that pretty F135 sticker on them! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Jason M 02-01-2002, 07:47 AM Jimmy, have you fired that thing up for long enough to find out if you need a different radiator or not???

I take it that is the stock rad for the 2f.
Any mods done to the cooling system, turdmostat, water wetter?
Also looks like the stock fan/shroud, correct?
Any elec fans on the front?
