Who thinks that mog's and a tera low set in a zu tcase would be low enough for decently crawling a 88 trooper on fodees with a 2.6 moderatly built..?

first off, unimog axles have a very low gear ratio stock, which is 7.62. that is good. :D stock isuzu t-cases have a ratio 2.283 in 4low, but with teralow 3.07's in your t-case that would help.

so far you have you good ratios:

7.62 (x2) - both axles
3.07 - xfer case
3.767 - manual transmission 1st gear

i don't if that would be enough to turn 44" tires (18-21" wide). the ratios show that it might be possible, but you'd be putting a good amount of stress on the engine. if i were you, i'd swap in a v8 or pay for someone to do the swap then unimogs and 44's, but then again wtf would you need 44's on a trooper in the first place?? :flipoff2:

I am only thinking 40's (irok bias) With that gearing I would think it would be suitable for wheeling??

yes it will be fine. might want to look in to a 2nd case (divorced np205, yota, ect.) if crawling is your thing

That's only an 88:1 CR. Not bad for general trail use with the 2.6 and manual tranny and tires that size. Definitely still not geared down enough if you just want to do rocks. You'll either be stalling it or smoking the clutch off to maneuver through the tight spots. If you had an auto tranny or a bigger engine things would be different.
