hi i was hoping to change my diff gears from 410s i think thats what stock toys are but anyway i have some work to be done on the front diff and was wondering if for one if i can change it to 529 instead of the 410s ,i know that it is change able not waht im asking , i am asking if the 2 are compatible like if i have 529 front and 410 back(eventually doing back too but not now) so will it like work in 4wheel or will it throw you all over, do you understand. is it really worth doing now or should i just do them both at the same time. thanks

no you do not want to do that. run the same gear set please.

just think about it 2 different gear sets and think about rotations per min. if you run in 4 wheel drive and say you have 35 in tires witch 5:29s are perfect for on a toy the transfer case is turnnig both drive shafts at the same time and now that you have differnt gear settings your front tires will be running at a different speed then your rear and thus fawking sum shiz up.

think about what u are asking, all gears do is change the rotations of tires based on rotations of driveshafts. 4.10 gears rotate teh tires 1 time for every 4.1 turns of the DS. 5.29 rotate the tires 1 time for every 5.29 rotations of the DS. if you have one gear ratio in the back and a different in the front, then you will be pulling your rig apart or crushin it together, unless you had larger tires in the front and bigger ones in the rear (really stupid, and they will have to be EXACTLY the right ratio)

For every 1 rotation of the rear tire the front one will go 3/4 rotation. So if you have a 35" tire on the front and a 27" on the rear it will work. If your tires are the same size ti will break lots of stuff. Hopefully only a u-joint, but it may split the t-case. If you do this with the thought of later changing the rear LEAVE the front driveshaft out until both axles have the same ratio
